John Canning was interviewed by Dennis Boyce and Montell Herring on October 23, 2008 for the Allegheny Voices Oral History Project. Allegheny Voices was a collaboration between the Saturday Light Brigade (www.slbradio.org), the Andy Warhol Museum, and Manchester Academic Charter School. The interviews were recorded and a magazine was published with a grant from The Grable Foundation as a part of The Charm Bracelet Fund. For John’s 70th Birthday, October 9, 2009, his wife Ann created a video documentary using the audio interview by the 8th grade students, family photographs, and neighborhood photographs from Historic Pittsburgh.
